How did you actually choose a business bank? Every comparison list says the same thing
Photographer, going full-time next month after three years of weekend weddings, and I'm at the part where I need a business account that isn't my personal checking with a mental note attached.
I've read maybe a dozen best-small-business-bank pages and they're all the same paragraph about no monthly fees and mobile deposit. That doesn't help me choose, because I don't know which of those things I'll care about a year from now.
My actual situation: 12 to 18 weddings a year, deposits landing six to twelve months before the event, a couple of thousand in gear at random times, and one contractor I pay a second shooter fee to. I'd like the deposits for future weddings to stop feeling like spendable money, because that is precisely the mistake I will make.
Questions for people who've done this:
- Big national bank, local credit union, or one of the online-only ones?
- Does anyone really keep a separate savings for deposits and taxes, or is that a thing people say?
- What made you switch, if you switched?
Not after a referral link, I just want to know how the decision actually went for you.
